Spring into Action: Growth, Green Spaces, and Giving Back
April is all about growth, awareness, and getting ready for the season ahead. We're participating in citywide clean-up efforts and promoting ways to keep our blocks looking their best. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of city services like Street & Sanitation, Tree planting requests, and more. We're also raising awareness around youth jobs and enrichment - One Summer Chicago applications are now open! Looking ahead, don't miss the Southside Youth Explosion event happening this May.

Stay connected by following our updates on Facebook and Instagram, and join us in keeping the 20th Ward clean, informed, and ready for spring.

Senior Services
The 20th Ward is committed to ensuring our senior residents feel supported, valued, and connected. Whether you’re seeking resources, activities, or opportunities to engage with the community, we’re here to help.
Health & Wellness
The City of Chicago offers a variety of health and wellness resources to support seniors in staying active and healthy. These include free or low-cost health screenings, fitness classes, mental health support, nutrition and meal programs, and assistance with managing chronic conditions.
Meal Services
The City of Chicago’s Home Delivered Meal (HDM) Program provides nutritious meals to eligible Chicago residents, 60 years of age and older, who are frail and/ or homebound because of illness, incapacitating disability, or are otherwise isolated. An in-home assessment is conducted by a case manager to determine eligibility for this program.
Transportation Assistance
Transportation is the critical link that assures access to vital services such as health care, social and nutritional services, family and friends, stores and jobs. The availability of transportation allows older adults to live independently in their communities and helps prevent isolation and premature nursing home placement.
Financial Support and Legal Aid
Professional attorneys are available to assist caregivers with various legal issues such as; Power of Attorney, Living Wills, Guardianship and other legal issues that caregivers are often faced with when assisting their older loved ones. Legal services are coordinated and provided by Legal Aid Chicago (LAC).
Senior Save Discount
The free Senior Save program links seniors to valuable discounts offered by Chicago businesses. All Chicago residents age 60 and older are eligible to receive a Senior Save discount card which can be applied for at senior service centers, Golden Diner sites, fitness class locations and CHA senior buildings. A list of participating businesses is included in the discount directory. The Senior Save card helps keep Chicago affordable for everyone including legal assistance, senior housing information, caregiving resources, employment services, and life enrichment programs.
